Lip Lift

Conveniently located to serve Seattle and Bellevue

Background

The Lip Lift or Bullhorn Lip Lift is a central Lip lift that accentuates the middle zone of the upper lip in the area of the cupids bow. The lift results in a decrease in length of the cutaneous aspect of the upper lip which is between the vermillion border and bottom of the nose (see diagram below between orange lines) and more show of the vermillion or red part of the upper lip centrally.

Longer cutaneous upper lip distances can be genetic or part of the aging process. As we age the lips decrease in fullness and the length of the skin above the lip lengthens.

Anatomy

In general, the vertical height of the upper lip is around half the vertical height of the lower lip. Therefore, naturally the lower lip is larger then the upper lip.

Reviews

My first visit to RP Plastic Surgery was for lip augmentation and I’ve never done that before. My lips turned out so good that I decided to do additional change to my body and it was a big del for me. I felt very comfortable to talk about breast augmentation and I scheduled a follow up appointment right away. Staff was very kind, helpful and friendly. It’s been a week since I’ve done a breast augmentation (my surgery was on 12/22/2015) so I’m still bruised, but there is virtually no pain and I can already see that I will love it! I want to thank you all for being so kind, caring and professional. Dr Rikesh Parikh is amazing.

Lip Augmentation

There are multiple ways to enhance or bring fullness to the upper lip;

Lip Fillers are common and are temporary. Fat Transfer can be permanent but some loss will occur. Lip Implants are permanent. However, none of these procedures will truly decrease the vertical height of the cutaneous lip area. This can be accomplished with lip lifting.

Lip Lift Procedure

The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia or combined with other procedures. An area of skin is marked prior to procedure. This amount varies from person to person depending on the desired effect. After this local anesthesia is infiltrated into area. That tissue is removed and gap is then resewn back to normal position. The incision will be under the base of the nose following the contours of the nose so that the scar is most hidden. The sutures are removed in a week in the office.
The procedure takes about 45 min – 1 hour. The scar should improve with time as well.

This type of lip lift does not pull up the corners of the lip that is called a corner lip lift where triangular wedges are removed from the sides of the upper lip and the scar is along the vermillion border.
