When would a Testicular Implant or Prosthesis be used?

  1. If the testicle was removed from surgery due to injury, disease or torsion
  2. Undescended testicle from birth to the scrotum
  3. Testicle missing at birth
  4. Transgender surgery female to male GRS or SRS surgery

Types of Implant or Prosthesis

  1. Silicone filled
  2. Saline Water Filled

The implants come in different sizes and are similar in shape to the real testicle with a natural feel.

 

Why Place A Testicular Implant in?

The artificial testicle or implant has no functional effect but is more for psychological purposes and cosmesis.

Procedure

It is an outpatient procedure performed under general or local anesthesia. An incision is made in the scrotum and a subdartos pocket is created to allow for the implant to be placed. The incision is closed in layers.
